Beano vs Superman
Beano is a comic written by D.C. Thomson and illustrated by David Sutherland, who is also responsible for coming up with the idea of Denis The Menace. This British comic came out in 1938 (just before the golden age of comics) and uses a more comically animated art style. This comic was primarily targeted at children and therefore uses more youthful themes for the storyline and art style. Beano's were not usually given titles, but just given the name Beano and then the number of the issue. In addition, the colours used throughout are more bright and bold to appeal to young kids as they often enjoy looking at brighter/ happy colours. Finally, the way the characters have been drawn uses less realistic detail and more accentuated features to make the comic more comedic.
Superman is a Marvel comic written by Stan Lee and illustrated by Jack Kirby, this comic series emerged in the golden age of comics and was first released in 1938. The comic i looked at was Superman : The Man Of Steel. The art style of this comic is more realistic and attempts to capture all the features of the character, accentuating his muscles to convey strength, additionally, the colours used are slightly duller to connote the more realism to Superman's undercover character of Clark Kent, and the bright colour of his Superman hero suit. Furthermore, the text used is enclosed within speech bubbles, in black, all capitals, somewhat italic font- using red fonts when a word needs extra emphasis.
